Darrin Quam – Chair

Darrin is a commercial litigation attorney with Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A. His practice focuses on representing clients in business and property rights disputes. Darrin has been a MacDonald Training Center board member since 2004, including Chairman of the Board from 2011-2013.  Darrin graduated magna cum laude from Boston College and received J.D. magna cum laude from Georgetown University.

Mrs. Stacy FenderMrs. Stacy Fender – 1st Vice Chair

Stacy was raised in Jupiter, FL and graduated with Honors from the University of Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Finance and a Masters Degree in Computer Science.

Stacy started her career at AIG Insurance in New York City in the E-commence Division then moved to Washington, D.C. to work in the Telecommunications Industry. In 2004, Stacy joined Tririga, a software company which was recently acquired by IBM, as a Project Manager for software implementations for such clients as Medtronic, University of Maryland, The Smithsonian Institute, and World Bank.
While living in Washington, D.C., Stacy met her husband, Brian, and they moved to Tampa to raise a family in Brian’s hometown. While in Tampa, Stacy became the Director of Professional Services for a software company, Mobile Insight. After the birth of her third child, Stacy took time off from work to raise her family and worked part time as an Event Planner. Stacy volunteers at her children’s schools and as a Girl Scout Troop leader.

Stacy is an Adjunct Professor at Hillsborough Community College teaching Introduction to Computers and teaches yoga in Carrollwood. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, attending performances at the Straz, practicing yoga, and reading.

Ms. Judit Tejada – 2nd Vice-Chair

Judit is currently the Director of Strategic Planning at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. Previously, she spent ten years in varied roles at Merrick & Company.

Judit received a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Columbia University. She also received a Masters in business administration from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

She is the proud mother of her six year old daughter, Emma and wife to Andrés Tejada, an engineering professor at the University of South Florida. In addition to being committed to the mission of MacDonald Training Center, she loves to spend time with Andrés and Emma, reading and jogging.

Mr. Eric Kreiger – Treasurer

Eric is a research analyst at Eagle Asset Management, where he focuses on the firm’s fixed income strategies. Eric, originally from Jupiter, FL, has been living in Tampa, FL for the past 3 years where he has been actively involved in the Tampa Bay community. Eric attended Florida State University, where he received his M.S. in Finance degree after double majoring with a B.S. in Finance and B.S. in Economics at Florida Gulf Coast University. Go “Dunk City”!

Ms. Cathy BaezMs. Cathy Baez – Secretary

Cathy has been a resident of the Tampa Bay area for over 35 years.

Cathy is Vice President, Human Resources Manager at Bank of America, Tampa and Hialeah. She joined Bank of America in 1983 and has held numerous leadership roles before moving to the Staffing Organization in 1997. During the last 17 years in Staffing, she has supported multiple lines of businesses nationwide including Global Technology & Operations, Global Wealth Investment Management, Mortgage Operations and Consumer Banking Services.

Cathy is an active member of several Employee Network chapters. She actively engages in her community and contributes time and resources to various organizations including the MacDonald Training Center. Cathy has been an active member of the Employment Services Business Advisory Council at MacDonald Training Center for the past 15 years.

Ms. Adairis (Ada) Gutierrez

Adairis is the Regional Vice President, LTSS at Humana Healthy Horizons in Florida.  She is an experienced healthcare professional with 16+ years of demonstrated progressive leadership in managed care. Strong professional skills in operations, leading large teams, strategy and case management for Dual eligible, Medicaid, Medicare, LTSS populations across the healthcare landscape.

Mr. Williard Blair

Practicing for more than a decade, Will focuses on corporate and securities law, and mergers and acquisitions. His practical, solutions-oriented approach allows him to successfully counsel clients in all aspects of public and private company representation, including:

* Private placements

* Reporting obligations under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934

* General corporate governance matters

* Mergers and acquisitions for both publicly traded corporations and privately held entities

Will focuses on understanding his clients’ business objectives at the outset of a transaction and guides clients with practical, business-oriented solutions.

While at the University of Florida, Will served as the galleys editor of the Florida Law Review and as an Executive Board Member of the University of Florida Trial Team. He also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Maurice M. Paul, United States District Court Judge for the Northern District of Florida.

Additionally, Will earned Book Awards in Corporate Taxation and Trial Practice and was a teaching assistant for Legal Research and Writing and Appellate Advocacy. He was also a pro bono volunteer for the Eighth Judicial Circuit of Florida.

When he’s not busy helping clients, Will enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Ms. Shannon Browning

Shannon is an artist participating in the MacDonald Training Center Fine Arts Studios. Her art is distinctive, personal and often amusing, interspersing divergent subject matter into her artworks. She enjoys making others happy through her art.

The Honorable Jack Gutman

Jack Gutman is the nonpartisan judge of the Hillsborough County Court.

He was elected to the office in 2018. Judge Gutman obtained his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 1986 and has a bachelors degree from Tulane University in 1983.

Previously he was Senior Assistant County Attorney with the Pasco County Attorneys Office where he handled the county’s eminent domain litigation. Prior to that Judge Gutman served as an Assistant Attorney General with the State of Florida Attorney Generals Office and was a longtime prosecutor with the Hillsborough County State Attorneys Office.

Judge Gutman has been a resident of Hillsborough County for over 40 years. He and his wife, Carlene, have two children. Jack has served MacDonald Training Center for many years, as a dedicated board member as well as Chair of MacDonald Training Center and MacDonald Training Center Foundation Board of Directors.

Mr. Peter Haladay

Peter joined the MTC Board of Director in September 2019. He is actively involved in all aspects of MTC’s vocational programs, and is currently training for community employment in eQuality Solutions, electric recycling area of MacDonald Training Center.

Phillips B. Harrington, M.D.

Phillips Harrington is board certified in general surgery and board eligible in thoracic surgery. A Tampa native, he received his undergraduate degree in biomedical science from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Harrington furthered his medical training by completing a surgery internship and general surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama. He then pursued further surgical training, completing a cardiothoracic surgery residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Harrington’s clinical interests include aortic surgery, surgical management of heart failure, minimally invasive valve surgery, including transcatheter valve therapy (TAVR) and off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). He has contributed numerous articles in peer-reviewed publications including the Annals of Thoracic Surgery and Journal of Immunology. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.

Ms. Karen McKinney

Karen McKinney – With over 30 years’ experience in marketing and public relations, most of her nonfiction articles focused on the commercial real estate industry. The work has appeared in regional, national and international publications.

A lifelong volunteer, Ms. McKinney also serves on the College of Arts and Letters Advisory Board at the University of Tampa, MOSI’s Kids in Charge Museum Advisory Board and the Tampa General Hospital Diabetes Advisory Council. She is a past president and vice president of the Tampa Writers Alliance, plus awarded the 2012 Carl Cronan Media Excellence Award from CREW Tampa Bay for media integrity.

When she isn’t researching new uses for chocolate, she’s probably somewhere cooking with or eating dark chocolate.

Dr. Michael M. Robinson

Dr. Robinson is past director of the Accounting Department at the University of Tampa. He is currently an Associate Professor of accounting with substantial managerial work experience in planning and control of operations and implementing and managing accounting information systems. Excellent record of teaching in EMBA/MBA programs and to graduates students in finance and accounting. Active researcher with publications in premier and “A” listed accounting and business journals. He earned his Ph. D. Accounting – Arizona State University May 2009,MS Accountancy and Information Systems – Arizona State University May 2001,MBA (Finance) – The Pennsylvania State University May 1989,B.Sc. General Management – University of the West Indies June 1983.

Mr. Kevin M. Sullivan

Kevin is a senior associate in GrayRobinson’s Tampa office handling all matters relating to labor  and employment law in all matters both public and private sector. He was born and raised in Tampa and is a 2007 Jesuit High School graduate. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Vanderbilt University and earned his Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law.

Ms. Cheryl Worsham

Cheryl is a well established musical and theatrical producer as well as passionate arts enthusiast. She is a member of several boards and has been actively involved in the growth of the arts community in our area. She has produced hundreds of concerts from jazz festivals, to opera and Opry. Cheryl has worked with well known pop stars and recording artists. Her Broadway style shows are a community favorite and include performers from all walks of life in our community.

Mr. Aaron Silberman – Chair

Aaron was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and has lived in Florida since 1993

He is an attorney focusing his practice on community association law (representing condominium and homeowners’ associations) and commercial litigation. Aaron received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in Business, with a concentration in Finance, and his law degree from the University of Miami. In his spare time, Aaron enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters.

Mr. Jerry E. Fogarty, III – Vice Chair/Treasurer

Jerry is the third member of his family to serve on the MacDonald Training Center boards of directors. Both his father and grandfather, Jerry Fogarty and Jerry Fogarty Jr. were active, involved members of the board, introducing Jerry to the concept of service at a young age. A Tampa native with deep roots in the community, Jerry is Vice President, Business Banking at Synovus Bank.

Ms. Cindy Bauer

Cindy is Director of Human Resources at the Boys and Girls Club of the Suncoast. She was an exceptional employer for many people with disabilities during her many years with Time Customer Service. Cindy has been an active member of MTC’s Business Advisory Committee for many years. She is a founding member of the Pet Resources Board of Directors.

Mr. J. Richard Caskey

J. Richard (“Rich”) is an attorney at his law firm, J. Richard Caskey, P.A., in Tampa, where he focuses his practice in the areas of estate and trust litigation. As a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator, Rich also focuses upon mediation of estate and trust disputes. Rich is the Vice-Chair of The Florida Bar Probate Rules Committee, and serves on a number of committees of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar. Rich attended the University of Florida and is a “Triple Gator” having earned his B.S. in Accounting, M.B.A., and J.D. degrees from UF. As a father of three, Rich spends as much time as he can with his wonderful family.

Ms. Patricia Spears

Pat has a distinguished career in Development, Fundraising and Philanthropy. Her career as a Development Specialist and Officer, encompasses many years in the field of education. Pat has been a dedicated member of the MTC community for decades, serving as advisor whenever needed. Pat has served in leadership positions on all boards, and has chaired multiple boards.

Mr. Bob Basham

Mr. Robert D. Basham, also known as Bob, serves as an Executive at Sbg Investments LLC. Bob is a Founder at MVP Holdings. He is Co-Founder of Outback Steakhouse of Florida, LLC. Bob was a Co-Founder of OSI Restaurant Partners, LLC and also served as its President since 1991, Co Chairman since March 08, 2005, Vice Chairman until June 2007 and also served as its Chief Operating Officer from 1991 to March 08, 2005. He founded Outback Steakhouse Inc in 1988.

Mr. Steven G. Hengel

Steve currently works for a global Data and Analytics firm as a Strategic Technical Solutions Consultant. He provides expertise to large Financial Institutions on items relating to Compliance, Fraud and Risk Mitigation.

He started his relationship with the MacDonald Training center over twenty years ago volunteering at different events and fundraising. Later, he joined the MTC Foundation Board of Directors where he also served as Treasurer. He is very proud of the work done at the Center in order to serve and empower people with disabilities.

Steve and his wife raised and trained a Therapy Dog, Rocky. They currently volunteer and partner with the local library for a Paws to Read program promoting reading skills and a safe place for children to read to Rocky and other Therapy Dogs.

EMERITUS

Mr. Richard Diaz, Jr.

Richard is a professional Civil Engineer with extensive land development and transportation experience for over 35 years. Recognized expert in residential and commercial land development engineering with over 1000 projects throughout Florida. His notable projects have been recognized for local, state, and national awards. Richard provides consulting engineering services to local and state governmental agencies, and routinely appears before public agencies including testimony at rule making hearings in Florida.

He is an active seminar presenter and lecturer to various groups and is a continuing education instructor for the International Right-of-Way Association, IRWA, with courses facilitated in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and California. He is also an active member of the Florida Department of Transportation Greenbook Advisory Committee responsible for the publication of Florida’s Manual of Uniform Minimum Standards for Design, Construction and Maintenance for Streets and Highways.

Ms. Lenore Horton- Immediate Past Chair

Lenore is Vice President, Deputy Director of Operations Water Business Line, Southeast Region for AECOM ,a global network of experts working with clients, communities and colleagues to develop and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most complex challenges including delivering clean water and energy, restoring damaged environments and connecting people and economies with roads, bridges, tunnels and transit systems. Lenore received her BS and ME Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering from the University of South Florida. Lenore lives in Tampa with her husband and children.

Mr. Thomas Wood – Chair

Originally from Ohio, Tom graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Economics in 1982, and a law degree in 1985. Upon graduation from law school, Tom joined the law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP in Toledo, Ohio.
He was elected partner in the firm’s litigation practice group in 1993, and transferred to the firm’s Tampa, Florida office in 1994. His areas of practice include all aspects of complex commercial litigation, and he has extensive experience both litigating for and consulting with businesses and financial institutions on a wide variety of legal issues including residential and commercial foreclosures, all aspects of real property litigation and disputes, lender liability claims, unfair competition claims, drafting and enforcement of covenants not to compete, trade secret disputes, shareholder disputes, contract claims, insurance coverage issues, and employment disputes.

Tom has served multiple terms as Chair of the MacDonald Training Center, Inc. Board of Directors. Tom served on and acted as Chairman of the MacDonald Training Center Properties, Inc. Board of Directors. Tom serves on the Board of Directors for Jewish Family Services, and has served on the Board of Directors for The Hillel School of Tampa, Inc., and Congregation Schaarai Zedek. Tom and his wife Donna, reside in Carrollwood.

Mrs. Kimberlee DeBosier

Mrs. Kimberlee DeBosier – Vice Chair/Treasurer

A native of Michigan, Kim graduated from Michigan State University in 1977 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering. After four years as a structural engineer in Oklahoma City and Baton Rouge, she chose to expand her experience into general civil engineering, spending another six years in Baton Rouge working for a local consulting engineering firm. Kim obtained her Master’s of Business Administration from Louisiana State University during this period. She became a registered professional engineer in 1981. Marriage to a Baton Rougean living in Florida brought her to the Tampa Bay area in 1987. She worked in progressively responsible positions at the largest Florida-based consulting engineering firm, becoming the first technical female to be named a Vice President. In a field somewhat non-traditional for women, Kim was the first female engineer in each of the offices in which she worked. In 1995, she and two colleagues formed Bayside Engineering, Inc., a women-owned consulting engineering and surveying firm committed to superior engineering and client service. Kim was the firm’s President.

Kim has always been involved in her community and profession. She has held leadership positions in various engineering societies. Some of her current positions include Board Chair of the Florida Engineering Management Corporate; Board Member and Treasurer of MacDonald Training Center Properties; Chair of the Advisory Board for the Center for Urban Transportation Research; and Board Member of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. She previously served a 4-year term as Chair of the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority and Board Member of the Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Kim has received numerous honors and awards, including the 2009 Governor A.W. Gilchrist Award, the 2005 Florida Engineering Society Engineer of the Year, and the 2005 Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers Community Service Award.

Kim, her husband Jeff and their two sons, Adam and Collin, live in the City of Tampa.

Ms. Madeline Clark – Secretary

Madeline specialized in Adult and Special Education during her long professional career in Education. She retired from a leadership position with Hillsborough County School District.

Ms. Fran DavinThe Honorable Fran Davin

The Honorable Fran Davin relocated to Tampa with her family in 1970. She served two terms as an elected Hillsborough County Commissioner and later was appointed to fill out an unexpired term on the Tampa City Council.

Fran was Vice President of Development for Tampa General Hospital before heading up the Tampa Parkway Association as its Executive Director. From 2003-2007 she served as Special Assistant to former Mayor Pam Iorio. Her concern with health and welfare issues is reflected in her former board memberships on The Spring, the Hillsborough County Mental Health Center, the Tampa Housing Authority and Tampa General Hospital. Among the many boards she has chaired, Fran has been Chairman of the Board of HART (Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority) and Chair of the MacDonald Training Center Foundation and Inc. Board of Directors.

Mr. Jorge Fuentes

Jorge is Vice President of Construction, Strategic Property Partners LLC. Jorge is an accomplished real estate development and construction management professional with over 15 years of experience in urban development, commercial, residential, and hospitality projects. He is passionate about improving communities through real estate development and has a proven track record in delivering large scale projects on time, and on budget. He received his MS Civil Engineering from Stanford University and is a graduate of the University of Florida. Jorge lives in Tampa with his wife and children.
