MTC SHORT Term Employment Training Programs                                    through the CARES Act

MTC is proud to be an approved training provider for job seekers in Hillsborough County who want to get back to work. CareerSource Tampa Bay (CSTB) is organizing the Rapid Response Recovery (R3)  program which will help Hillsborough County job seekers with occupational skills training and find businesses skilled labor. The R3 program is funded through the Federal Cares Act with funding released by the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners.

CSTB will be signing up 2,100 Job Seekers to participate in Short-Term and On-the-Job Training.

Up to 1,000 individuals can take advantage of the Short-Term Training program, training scholarships will provide up to $5,000 educational assistance.

In order to qualify, job seekers must be a Hillsborough County resident, economically injured due to COVID 19, 18-years of age or older, and must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized to work.

Approved MTC Training Courses eligible for the R3 Program:

MTC’s Short Term certification courses equip job seekers with and without disabilities to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in logistics/ manufacturing, and cleaning/sanitation/safety.

  • Ongoing enrollment, evening, Saturday classes available
  • Employment training for in-demand jobs with instructor- led classes
  • Open to the public, participants do not need to be enrolled in other MTC programs.

Eligible Training Programs and Course Descriptions:

Logistics in the Supply Chain and Manufacturing Sectors

MTC courses and certifications concentrate on mastery of the core competencies of material handling from the front-line entry-level to front-line supervisor through successful completion of the Certified Logistics Technician Associate (CLA) certification and Certified Logistics Technician (CLT)(CLA) assessments.  MTC is one of only two approved testing sites in the Tampa Bay area for CLT/CLA certifications.

With exponentially increased online shopping and shipping as the nation continues to practice social distancing for the near future, employers like Amazon and Publix will need workers with logistics training and certification to meet demand in the post-COVID-19 economy.

Course Offerings:

  1. CERTIFIED LOGISTICS ASSOCIATE (CLA)

Format: Online immediately or Face-to- Face Instruction TBD.  Both options available.

Description:

This course builds along the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) credentialing system leading to higher skilled, frontline material handling workers across all supply chain facilities: factories, warehouses, distribution centers and transporters.

Student Cost: $1,200.00

Cost Includes: Virtual/in class instruction, hard copy book, exam, skill development training.

Course Length: 30 hours

 Upon completion of the course, students have the opportunity to test onsite at MTC to earn MSSC CLA credentials

  1. CERTIFIED LOGISTICS TECHNICIAN (CLT)

Format: Online immediately or Face-to- Face Instruction TBD.  Both options available.

Description:

CLA is a prerequisite for CLT as this course builds upon professional skills. MSSC training and assessment addresses the need for employability and academic skills as well as technical skills.

Student Cost: $1,200.00

Cost Includes: Virtual/in class instruction, hard copy book, exam, skill development training.

Course Length: 30 hours

Upon completion of the course, students have the opportunity to test onsite at MTC to earn their MSSC CLT credentials. (Requires completion of CLA)

Program:

Healthcare/Hospitality Environmental Safety and Sanitation Services  Aligning with the post COVID workplace, and meeting the skyrocketing demand for higher levels of sanitizing/disinfecting required for office, retail, restaurant, hotel and healthcare settings, MTC is expanding our Environmental Services (ES)program, adding  ISSA Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) Certified Custodial Technician (CCT) and CCT Advanced courses. Two programs available- (1) ISSA Basic Certified Custodial Technician & GBAC Fundamentals: Cleaning & Disinfection. (2) ISSA Advanced Certified Custodial Technician.

County residents with or without disabilities seeking employment may be trained in advanced protocols to meet the new norms for hygiene and infection prevention in a post-COVID-19 world, including the use of new technologies such as electrostatic sprayers and UV light.

In an exciting collaboration with Moffitt Cancer Center (MCC), job seekers meet time and quality standards for environmental services in a replica of a hospital room constructed within the MTC facility.  In a testament to the comprehensive content of this hands- on training, Moffitt has waived the 6 month of experience typically required for employment consideration for program graduates.

Course Offerings:

  1. Certified Custodial Technician Basic Course & GBAC Fundamentals: Cleaning & Disinfecting

Format: Online immediately or Face-to- Face Instruction TBD.  Both options available.

Description:

Learn the best practices for disinfecting surfaces as well as cleaning hard floors, carpets, restrooms, showers, and more. Participants will learn infection and contamination control measures for infectious disease outbreak situations such as the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).

Student Cost: $1462.50

Cost Includes: Virtual/in class instruction, hard copy book, exam, skill development training.

Course Length: 25 hours

Upon completion, successful participants (passing score of 80% or more in each of the six modules) will receive a Certified Custodial Technician BASIC certification valid for two years as well as a Certification of Completion from GBAC.

  2.Certified Custodial Technician Advanced Course:

Format: Online Course  or Face-to- Face Instruction.  Both options available, see class options below.

Description:

This Advanced course will take your skills to the next level by focusing on more restorative, project-based tasks. Learn how to successfully strip and refinish floors, extract carpets, and deep clean above-the-floor surfaces. This course is ideal for facility service professionals within the cleaning industry frontline custodians within education, government, healthcare, and prison systems.

Student Cost: $762.00

Cost Includes: Virtual/in class instruction, hard copy book, exam , skill development training.

Course Length: 20 hours

Upon completion, successful participants (passing score of 80% or more in each of the three modules) will receive a downloadable, certified Custodial Technician ADVANCED certification that is valid for two years.
